The Black 9 – Stop Draggin My Heart Around (Music Video)

A bone dry, spine-tingling loose string petulantly scrapes against a wall of silence in the moments leading up to the explosion of colorful riffing that invites us into Black 9’s “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” a cover of the 1981 Stevie Nicks song. While the original featured a memorable contribution from Tom Petty on guitar and backing vocals, Black 9’s version employs the band’s trademark tonality and expands upon the framework of the ballad’s dreamy beat and burning melody. It takes less than half a dozen seconds for them to find a warhorse of a metal riff to ride into the ethers, and by the time we reach the opening stanza one thing is clear – this take on “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” is going to be a little more throttling than any other version we’ve heard before.
