I let his appearance define him in my eyes and he scared the shit out of me, to be brutally honest. My first real glimpse into his character was on someone else’s Patreon page, where we were both patrons. I had posted a comment asking about experiences with juvenile lockup. No one seemed to have anything they could or wanted to share, and I had all but forgotten my post. One day I got a notification of a reply to my thread, and there was the man whom I had avoided as best as I could. “Just for you Hot Soup” and a link to a video was the only thing written. I watched that video, not sure what I was expecting. That was the first time I’d looked beyond Donnie’s protective shell, beyond the tattoos that put fear into the hearts of the masses, myself certainly included. I saw a man who learned early to live hard. A man who for decades had it beaten into him that emotion is a weakness that can be exploited and get you killed. If you’re on the fence about Donnie, because he isn’t the most eloquent wordsmith, or doesn’t seem to have the same outlook on life that you do; give him a chance, watch his videos, look beyond the tattoos and see the man struggling to give himself a second chance at life.”
