Singer songwriter Don McLeod has had his fair share of being part of the music industry, but has now decided it is time to step up to the limelight. And there is no reason that he shouldn’t. Don holds a sense of awareness of the environment around him which is conveyed effortlessly in his ability to tell stories within his songs. The mix of McLeod’s compelling vocals, skillful arrangements, mature lyricism, and high quality production, brings together some of his best, most personal work.
Don has been able to capture slices of life, hardships, and universal pains people go through. Even at the point of darkness, has taken his storytelling in a direction that showcases the bright side to circumstance. For example, this song “Photographs”, is written as a letter to an ex from a man who has decided to leave his old life behind in search of his dreams in LA. On his journey he finds personal growth and realized what has been lost. Though his attempts to rekindle the relationship fail, he finds solace in the memories they once shared as captured in photographs. Essentially, while the pain of loss is difficult to surpass, one should always be thankful for what is to come and the memories that were once made.
In “Photographs”, Don has been able to find the right balance between his masculine strength and his soft heart.Openly sharing his world of vulnerabilities allows the listener to relate and connect to the song while having a sense of safety that how we feel does not occur in a vacuum. Don writes songs which act as a platform for allowing others to realize the pains we feel are universal and so is the healing.
