As seen through years of collaboration and friendship, Empire Bahamas bring an eclectic sound to the hip hop scene. Today, they are releasing their music video for “Whine,” which sees members Anon, Loui, Tino, and Gee vibing and rhyming in a true love song. “Whine,” is the perfect blend of R&B, soul, rap, and a little bit of that island rhythm.
Seeking to make more than just a smooth love song, Empire Bahamas have been collaborating and influencing each other since they were young. Each member of the group brings a different set of skills; Gee started off as the beatboxer and rhyme-maker, Anon’s lyrical skill stems from a background in poetry, Loui’s rhymes draw influence from a love of reading, and Tino learned to rhyme and rap under the mentorship of Anon.
This is the first offering from their upcoming album Burnadebt. Burnadebt is due out this summer and features 20 tracks that showcase the versatility and dynamic sound that makes Empire Bahamas.
Speaking on the group and this upcoming album, Gee says, “We wanted to create something that no one else was doing where we were from. I mean after all, we all loved it. So we got a bit serious about it and really started perfecting our crafts. We were always hell bent on creating music that we feel just won’t ‘fly by’ or disappear from our memory in a month because we enjoyed the more lyrical artists.”
